How To Prepare For Your Session

Whether you have done hundreds of photoshoots or you are a complete rookie, being in front of the camera can definitely draw you out of your comfort zone. Most of our clients show up to their first session a nervous wreck and that’s totally normal! My hope is that this guide will bring you reassurance and help you walk into your next photography session with confidence.

1. Relax & Be Yourself

Take a deep breath, drop your shoulders, and relax. When you’re preparing for your session, take a few moments to study some photos of yourself that you genuinely love. Study your body language and expressions and try to channel that in your session. After all, you want your photos to represent your personality and authenticity.

2. Pinterest Is Your Bestfriend

Pinterest is full of posing ideas and all the outfit inspiration you could think of! Seriously, if you don’t already have a Pinterest account you will want to sign-up and be prepared to scroll for hours. There are endless boards with inspiration for your session.

4. Don’t Forget The Essentials

Remember, you can never be too prepared! Pack the extra outfit, bring your makeup bag, and prepare for surprise weather (especially if you live in Texas). If you live in Texas, be prepared for the weather to switch up on you at without notice. To be safe, I recommend packing some hairspray, a sweater, and extra curling iron so you can be flexible if the weather throws you a curveball before your session.

3. Trust Your Photographer

Our goal as your photographer is to make sure that your session with us is as enjoyable and carefree as possible. We will guide you on where to go, what to do, and most importantly, what to do with your hands. It’s fair to assume that there is a chance of wardrobe malfunctions, loose hairs, etc. but the best part is we can fix that! Your sole focus should be on enjoying your session.

5. HAVE SOME FUN!

At the end of the day, the goal is for you to HAVE FUN! Your photos should capture who you are and what makes you, authentically you.
